Wrinkles Around the Mouth

When estrogen levels decline, your body produces less collagen. Collagen is what keeps your skin looking young, healthy, and plump. As collagen decreases, you may lose some of the fat under your skin, and elasticity decreases. Combined with the dryness caused by hormonal changes, this can lead to sagging — especially around the neck, jawline, and cheeks — along with fine lines and wrinkles.

Wrinkles that appear during menopause, especially above the upper lip, may signal estrogen and testosterone deficiencies, which are common during this stage of life.
