Bruising

Increased bruising is a lesser-known symptom of menopause. As estrogen levels decline, the skin becomes thinner and loses some of its protective fat layer. Blood vessels near the surface become more fragile, making them more prone to breaking — even with minor bumps or pressure.

This can lead to more frequent or noticeable bruises, especially on the arms and legs. Depleting hormones may also slow the body’s ability to heal, which may cause bruises to linger longer than before.
